Kennedy Excavation, LLC located in Williston, VT is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious excavator operator with a positive attitude. CDL license a plus. Some laboring required. Applicants must be able to work in all weather conditions full time. Valid Vermont driver's license, driver's check, and previous experience required. Job sites are located throughout Vermont, but typically are limited to day travel.
Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years of experience as an excavator operator. CDL license a plus.
Must have layout skills, ability to read blueprints, and ability to maintain grades. Should have erosion and sediment control knowledge.
Must be physically fit to perform manual labor in all types of environments and conditions, including heavy lifting (in excess of 50 lbs.)
Must have the ability to comprehend and follow specific operations and safety instructions.
Must have a safety mindset, common sense, competency, a strong work ethic, ability to work cooperatively with others, be flexible to the needs of the job, possess a solid ability to troubleshoot challenges, be punctual, respectful, and pay careful attention to detail.
Must have a current and valid driver’s license with clean driving record and reliable transportation.
Must be able to provide a minimum of 2 references who can verify previous experience and/or character reference.
OSHA safety training and a current First Aid or other safety training a plus, but is not required.

This Vermont-based position is mainly laboring, with some skid steer, track truck, and loader operating. Applicants must be able to do physical labor in all weather conditions year-round. Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work. Requires general reading, writing, and math skills.
Physical Skills and Abilities
Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, concrete and asphalt.
Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting (in excess of 50 lbs), balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Must have good balance and must not be clumsy.
Must be able to walk moderate distances to reach work area (1/2 mile or more).
Enter the cab of a vehicle that is 3.5 feet (or more) off the ground.
Must be committed to contributing to a culture of safety, looking out for yourself and others.
Working Conditions
Noise level is generally loud.
Variety of weather conditions ranging from hot/humid to cold/wet conditions.
Job sites may be located throughout Vermont, but typically involves day travel.
General Tasks, Skills and Abilities
Tasks include physical labor/equipment operating at commercial, utility, and residential construction sites. Applicants must be able to communicate effectively with a positive attitude, including those they are working with as well as with others.
Ability to operate hand and other power tools, including tampers, compactors, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, surveying and measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
Ability to maintain all equipment to the highest standards; grease and inspect equipment daily, inspect frame structure and hydraulic system, be familiar with the equipment layout, follow refueling procedures, be knowledgeable about emergency devices, practice safe driving/operating and keep record keeping up-to-date.
Ability to work independently and as well as part of a team.
Must be flexible to the needs of the job, including supporting other crew members.
Excellent communication skills to be able to effectively and quickly communicate with Project Management, crew and clients.
Ability to maintain the work area(s) in a clean and orderly manner on a continuous basis.
Consistently report for work on time and in appropriate attire.
Be safety-conscious, dependable, willing to learn, team player, with good attitude.
Be willing to work outside in all weather conditions.
Be willing to follow all safety instructions.
Working knowledge of the methods, materials and tools used in site excavation and utility work.
